It's always exciting to write a review for new artists, but still undiscovered. Blair released EP on which there are 6 songs, strongly influenced by psychedelic pop of the 60's. We can hear some really warm and strong melodies on it.
These days there are less and less albums created in the same way. We mostly have pretty strong psychedelic or should I say neo-psych scene, but there is not many artists, that are influenced by artists like Billy Nicholls, The Move, Nirvana, Tyrannosaurus Rex, The Family Tree and others. That's why, I think his music feels so fresh.
EP starts with 'Song For The Solstice' which opens with really nice piano and beautiful bass line. I have to add, that we can hear some really nice guitar solo. It's a very catchy song and probably the most appropriate for the start of this EP.
'He's A Bitch' is his second song on this EP. The atmosphere changes a lot from first to the second song. This one is more emotional and kind of sad. I really like the singing and simplicity of organ playing.
From sad song to a happy one. 'Sing A Happy Song' has some really interesting lyrics and a very catchy chorus with the add of orchestra.
'Run Summer Rabbit' starts really fast and is a short interlude on EP. In my opinion Blair again wanted to change the mood. Out of this song starts 'April Suite', which could easily be an opener. The last song is called 'Farewell' and what could be a more appropriate end of the album?
The songs remind me on Bob Dylan and Donovan. As far as I know another two artists that had great impact on Blair's growing up.
I would recommend this EP to all of you who like to listen to the soft side of psychedelic music, who like the emotional side of pop music and for all of those who like some catchy chorus now and then. Support young artists who would like to record more quality music.
