Mysterium Tremendum is a brand new album from Mickey Hart. He decided to form a band with many guests among them there are Widespread Panic bassist, Dave Schools vocalists Crystal Monee Hall and Tim Hockenberry from Trans-Siberian Orchestra. There are not many moments in history of music, when a former legend creates something completely innovative. Other musician, who also did what Mickey Hart has is Neil Young on La Noise. Mysterium is a journey through space and time. It's a modern cosmic music, that flows amazingly through speakers and I was really surprised how »full« the sound is. The album sometimes reminds on »krautrock« experimentation made back in 70's, but the only difference here is that, Mickey provides a very modern sound. Something brand new!
Mickey Hart has been working more then two years on this project and with now officially released Mysterium Tremendum he created something, that is perhaps even greater or for sure at least the most innovative album in his carrier.
Besides eight member group of musicians that can do probably anything we have to mention contribution of a long time friend and Grateful Dead lyricist, Robert Hunter. What Mickey did with this project is that he proofed music has no boundaries. He connected an amazing jam band with »world« music and also some other types and the result is this album.
Album includes twelve additional musicians. Those are Zakir Hussain, Robert Hunter, Chalo Eduardo, Greg Ellis, Giovanni Hidalgo, Steve Kimock, Reed Mathis, Vir McCoy, Babatunde Olatunji, Nick Phoenix, Jonah Sharp , T.H. "Vikku" Vinayakram who in its 74 minutes length provide journey that begins as soon »Heartbeat of the Sun« starts playing as the first track on the album. I really recommend this to all who are interested in more adventures style of music. It's really worth a trip!
